Nice to see the Council and local businesses taking steps to make Leytonstone more attractive during the Christmas period – more late evening shopping apart from Tescos and Matalan would be good.

Hope the Christmas lights display is a bit more tasteful than last year – all that hideous blue lighting all over the upper floors of the library and Woolworths was a bit over the top and detracted from the lovely Christmas tree in the Church grounds. A bit overpowering when its shining into your property late at night – long after all the shops have shut down for the evening.

Any spare funds should be spent on providing activities in the old Woolworths store – not on tacky blue lighting outside it!

Surprising the Xmas lights are still on in Leytonstone – its now past 12th night so surely they should be taken down now? Also anyone wondered how much it has cost to keep them all switched on 24 hours a day as they have been since late November – even in bright sunshine. Will bear that in mind next time the council lectures us on climate change and our carbon footprint!
